Sommer school in Denmark - 12 scholarships are available for Danish children abroad

08.01.2016  07:48

I 2016 finder skolen sted d. 3 – 22. juli.

Danes Worldwide holds an annual three-week Summer School in Denmark for Danish children and adolescents (9-17 years), who ordinarily reside outside Denmark. In 2016, Summer School takes place from July 3 to July 22.

This year, Summer School offers free places for twelve students, which parents have limited
financial resources to maintain/enhance their children's connection to Denmark.

The Summer School is a unique opportunity to increase knowledge of Denmark and the Danish language and to form networks with other global children and adolescents with Danish roots. In addition to Danish lessons and field trips, the Summer School offers a range of other exciting activities, like sports, outdoor recreation, drama classes and creative workshops.

In the student’s application, please provide the following information:

  • His/her interest in participating in Summer School – preferably written by the student.
  • An outline of family circumstances (number of siblings, any financial support from persons outside the immediate family such as grandparents or a parent not living with the family).
  • Financial information – for example, the household budget with copies of tax assessments or earnings statements.
  • The parents’ statement why scholarship support is required (what amount is needed to enable him or her to enroll in the Summer School program?).*
  • Information about the family’s ties to Denmark and its interest in having the child attend Summer School.

* Danes Worldwide may divide one scholarship among several applicants.

Note: Scholarships are available only to members of Danes Worldwide.

Send your application to tina@danes.dk as a single PDF document no later than 1st of February 2016.
