The Danish Representative Office (DRO) in Ramallah is seeking to recruit a flexible part-time driver with additional administrative responsibilities on a fixed-term local contract of 12 months with the possibility of extension.
You are expected to be an experienced driver of armoured vehicles with the skills and willingness to also handle other tasks within the logistics team and the administration team respectively.
Main tasks
- Drive staff at the DRO and visiting delegations.
- Participate in the daily planning of logistics, including for field visits.
- Report on incidents relevant to security.
- Handle the maintenance of cars, including by coordinating with mechanics.
- Handle the maintenance of the office and official residences, including by coordinating with landlords and contractors.
- Assist with/handle procurement processes.
- Assist with/handle other administrative tasks based on experience/skills.
- Pick up and deliver mail.
- Ad hoc tasks within the office as needed.
Required qualifications
- Israeli driving license for trucks (Category C) and driving course(s) for armoured vehicles.
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving in armoured vehicles from similar positions with diplomatic missions, the UN, and/or NGOs.
- Fluency in English and proficiency in Hebrew with the ability to translate to and from Hebrew and English.
- Experience with administrative tasks and/or willingness to learn.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and efficiently based on written and verbal instructions.
- Punctuality and service-mindedness.
- Flexibility and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field for administration is desirable.
We offer
The DRO offers an informal, inter-cultural and dynamic work environment. We believe in teamwork based on mutual respect, trust and open communication. The DRO has five posted staff and 10 local staff that all lend a hand where needed. You will join the logistics team with two other local staff members, but you will also be working closely with the administration team. You will be working under the supervision of the Head of Mission and the Deputy Head of Mission.
Employment conditions
- You will be offered part-time employment for 12 months on a local contract based on the Staff Rules of the DRO and the relevant legally binding labour market rules of Palestine.
- The number of weekly work hours will be agreed upon based on your qualifications.
- Your salary will reflect your qualifications and relevant experience.
- As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.
- You will be entitled to paid holiday in addition to the DRO’s official closing days.
